Except that I, and many, many other people, argue and are supported by mountains of research showing that gender is socially and culturally constructed, neither of which is the same as “choice.” The term “determined” has been used for decades to elaborate on the phenomenon of biological determinism (of race, ethnicity, gender, etc.), which is the context in which I’m using this term. Nothing I’ve stated in this regard is groundbreaking or radical.
