I'm not equivocating, we're just talking about different things. I'm not making an argument about how or if transgender people should respond to claims that "cisgender" is a "slur." I'm arguing the word isn't inherently a slur and that the debate isn't really about language, which is why IMHO transgender people have engaged it so vehemently.

That said, I agree with everything you wrote after your first sentence. I am NOT saying transfolk (or anyone else) should ignore claims that "cisgender" is a "slur." If anything, I'm saying that that assertion is MUCH more consequential than the politics of language.
