I’m shocked, I say shocked, to learn that there’s a difference between a metaphor and the thing it metaphorizes (i.e. “reality”). The image is a teaching tool. It has limitations. As do all teaching tools/metaphors. Let’s not throw the baby out with the bath water or allow the perfect to become the enemy of the good.
