One of the several points I was attempting to make in this story is that the intentions of the person asking for pronouns are irrelevant to the matter. This is akin to the concepts of administrative violence and structural inequality: everyone just goes by the rules and inequality results. One does not need to intend to do evil in order for evil outcomes to result. The intentions of the pronoun questioner do not affect the balance of power when a request to provide gender pronouns occurs in a context that potentially levies negative consequences for refusal. But, for the record, I also think those asking about gender pronouns are well-intentioned.
