Well, because you know nothing about me and you asked, I know plenty about building houses, fixing machines, and growing food. I haven’t always been an academic and being an academic doesn’t mean I can’t build, fix, or grow. (Have you not heard of the academic disciplines of Engineering, Physics, or Botany?)

The only people who dismiss “identity politics” are those who enjoy the luxury of an unmarked identity — able-bodied, straight, white men. The rest of us are engaged in the politics of identity every day. We don’t have choice.

Now, back to planning my vegetable garden….
