I don’t know where you live but in the U.S. (where I live) hate speech does not and will not result in criminal prosecution because of the U.S. Constitution’s First Amendment freedom of speech protections. Attempts to criminalize hate speech here have not survived court challenges. Thus, while I consider intentional misgendering akin to a hate crime, the courts disagree.

I have no idea what you think I’m “suggesting.” The main point of my piece was that asking for gender pronouns isn’t liberatory despite claims to the contrary. I hardly see how that’s going to land anyone behind bars…
