Yes, to all of this! I saw Baker’s last design when I was researching my story and think it’s a great idea! But I will probably always object to any proposal for one single flag ‘to rule them all.’ We’re “polymorphously perverse” (as Foucault put it) so we should embrace both/and logic: there can be BOTH a common(ish) rainbow flag AND lots of different other flags — some derived from Baker’s original, some not. I’m totally fine with that. Doesn’t the idea of community formed from endless differences (represented by many kinds of flags) seem to suit us?
But don’t go casually messing with one of our few historical icons! There’s enough ‘phobes actively trying to erase us from history.
We don’t need to facilitate their evil….
